Fawcett Family

The Society of Friends (Quakers) began in England in the 1650s, when they broke away from the Puritans. Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn, as a safe place for Friends to live and practice their faith.

John Fawcett was born in 1716 in Ireland. His parents were Thomas Fawcett and Lydia Boyce.

In 1736 they immigrated to American and at first settled in Philadelphia.

He married Rebecca Ireson.

Lydia Fawcett (1739, married John Thomas),
Sarah Fawcett (1741, married Jonathan Lupton) ,
John Fawcett, Jr. (1749-1811),
Rachel Fawcett (1752, married George Redd),
Thomas Fawcett (1757).

About 1742 they moved to Frederick County, Virginia.

He was listed on the rent rolls of Frederick County in 1759.

On July 11, 1765 Lord Fairfax granted him 287 acres.

In 1779 he gave two acres to the Fawcett Gap Meeting House for the burying ground

John died on November 22, 1786.

Rebecca died on July 9, 1806.

Richard Fawcett was born about 1722 in Ireland. His parents were Thomas Fawcett and Lydia Boyce.

He married Rachel Ireson.

Joseph Fawcett (1750)
Hannah Fawcett (1753),
Mary Fawcett (1757), and
Lydia Fawcett (1761).
